Earth to Katie Holliday...Please Control your client! And get him some valium while you're at it.
Can't a person get some peace and quite around here? Is it too darn much to ask for a nice quiet saturday afternoon at the coffee shop, and then on to pick up a few groceries? It doesn't end I tell ya!
Just as I left Dilworth Coffee House and meandered towards the front central entrance of Harris Teeter, as I clutched my mail and recent copy of THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER to read the latest headline BILL BELK RESIGNS AS JUDGE, I saw a large man yelling, screaming, pointing his finger and verbally assaulting a clearly frightened mother of two darling children, who were present, witnessing their father's scary tirade.
"DO the right thing! Your a thief! You gotta do the right thing!" At the top of his lungs and pointing his finger in her face. The woman just stood there, frozen, like a deer caught in the headlights. The kids were silent, eyes wide with fear. "You didn't even get them the clothes!" He continued to scream.
They blocked the entrance and parted like the Red Sea as I passed in between the man's feud ith his wife. I looked at the mother, and saw her tears. I looked at the father and saw his rage. I kept walking. He kept screaming at her, insulting her, louder and louder- "You're a thief! You gotta do the right thing!" He kept screaming at her and I continued to walk away and then I realized he wasn't planning on stopping, ever. He was verbally communicating a measured threat. He would continue to verbally assault her in public with absolutely no regard for the trauma he was inflicting upon both her, the children and the HARRIS TEETER shoppers. I could hear that he was extremely angry and out of control. I was afraid for the children and the mother.
I turned around and faced the mother "Are you alright?" I asked her. She looked at me and then back to him, and said "See what happens when you do this in public?" " I can call someone if you want." Her tears started to flow and she was starting to shake. I turned to father and said "Look, I know you don't want to hear this, and I am sorry for butting in, but what you are doing here is going to hurt your children." "She is hurting the children! She's a thief!" I could not calm him down. He was so angry, and he scared me. "I'm taking the kids to the car!" he screamed- the little boy said "no mommy..." and pulled up to her side and held her hand.
It was frightening, sad, and horrible to see. We know this happens every day, but it is so blatantly out of control- people going ballistic in public. I did not call a security guard- I was so stunned. I was worried as I watched the dad drag the kids to the parking lot, and I saw the mom just standing there.
"Are you ok?" I asked. I don't even remember what she said. "Do you need to call the police?"
"He does this all the time. The police don't write down the verbal abuse part." She said.
"Is he using a lawyer?" I asked. "Yes." she said. "Is it James , McCelroy & Diehl? Jonathan Feit?" I asked. "Yes, that firm. But a woman." "Katie Holliday?" I asked her. "How did you know? How did you know? She asked, astonished. "Its written all over you. There are over 4000 attorneys in this town and I pegged the firm in one guess and the attorney in two. It's written all over you."

Maria- It would be wise to review the commandments so vividly quoted in one of your earlier posts before making such statements about people and situations in which you clearly have no background and do not understand.
VII. You shall not steal.
The seventh commandment forbids unjustly taking or keeping the property of one’s neighbor and wronging him in any way with respect to his goods or property. Have I stolen anything? Have I cheated my employer from the labor he is due? Have I cheated my employees of the just wage they are due? Have I breached contracts, defrauded anyone, or failed to pay debts I owe? Have I made reparation for any such thefts, breaches, frauds, or debts? Have I been guilty of air, water, or other pollution of the environment, including improperly disposing of things such as batteries, which contain toxic substances? Have I been kind to animals? Have I been kind and charitable to the poor? Have I practiced the corporal and spiritual works of mercy? (Sins can also be of omission. Chronic lack of concern of the poor, homeless, sick, hungry, etc. can be a serious sin. Jesus linked such sins to eternal damnation.)
VIII. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
As #2464 of the Catechism teaches, “The eighth commandment forbids misrepresenting the truth in our relations with others….”Have I laid? (The gravity of a lie is measured against the nature of the truth it deforms) Have I misrepresented the truth or deceived others? Have I given false witness or perjured myself? Have I respected the reputation of others, not engaging in gossip, rash judgment, calumny, or detraction? (Detraction is disclosing the faults and sins of another to persons who did not know them without an objectively serious and valid reason.)Have I confirmed a person in bad conduct or immoral behavior by flattery, adulation, or complaisance? If I have offended truth and justice in any of these previous ways have I made reparation for same, such as repairing someone’s reputation that was damaged?
Exodus 23:1-3
